The Invisible Financial Expert
The Cristian News Network (CNN) did an interview with a pastor about how the only way to survive this economic crisis is to believe in god. I guess I am screwed! Time to go find this invisible man to help me with my budget. Anyone seen him recently? Please point me in the direction of this great financial prophet!
Protect the Children!
With all the focus on the election I am not sure how many people are following Proposition 8 out in California. If it is passed it will overturn gay marriage in that state. Of course this has the Christians and other religious people scared and saying crazy things. Here is a video that features Christian parents that were offended that their son was told about homosexuality in the 2nd grade because Massachusetts allows gay marriage. I could barely watch this without wanting to smash something.
Please visit "No On Prop 8" to see how you can support gay marriage and the dream that one day every American will be able to get married if they want to.

Small Chuckles
This website gives you a sneak peak at what Palin would look like in the oval office. I hope this never happens, but given how stupid some people in this country are I am scared. I hope that everyone is excited that tonight is the last debate.

Spotlight
I am having a bit of a writers block today. So, I am going to point you to some bloggers that are not having writers block. In no particular order here are some posts that have caught my attention recently.
The first such blog is Daylight Atheism with a post titled "Yes to Equality, Yes to Marriage: No on Proposition 8." This post was very well written and provided the reader with not only an education in exactly what it means if we don't support Gay marriage and what the other side is saying, but also pointed out how we could help support this important issue.
Second, lets go over to Atheist Revolution for "FFRF Sues Bush Over National Day of Prayer." This was a look at this lawsuit that the Freedom From Religion Foundation has launched. I really wish that there was hope for FFRF to win this lawsuit , but I agree have to agree with vjack it is unlikely.
Third is the Learned Pig for the post "Christopher Columbus." This is a great look at exactly who Christopher Columbus was and what we are celebrating on Christopher Columbus Day. This post will show you just how holiday hungry we are in this country.
I hope that you all enjoy these posts. Feel free to share other great posts that you have read in the comments section.

It's Not Fair!
The American Family Association felt that the PBS poll asking if people thought Palin was qualified to be the vice president wasn't fair. So they are starting a poll asking if you think that Obama is qualified to be president. I hope that everyone has fun with this poll even though it is really stupid that they ask you to fill out a form in order to vote. On the bright side fake names and e-mail addresses do work. I was Right Wing Idiot with the e-mail address of lolwtfbbq@gmail.com for one of my many votes. Have some fun and spread the word!

McCain's off script, again
As I read this article over at Fixed Noise I wondered if McCain's speech writers are thinking "Why bother writing a speech for him if he is going to make off the cuff comments like this?"
"We're going to spend a lot of time and after I whip his you-know-what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7,"With that statement he not only got people laughing at him, but he showed his age as well. Furthermore, his base won't like that kind of talk and those outside of his base are thinking that he could have said "butt" at least.

If Obama wins God shrinks?!?
As I was reading cnn.com this evening this article made me chuckle a bit. In the article Arnold Conrad, a former pastor, prayed the following:
Here is a video of the entire prayer.
“There are millions of people around this world praying to their god—whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah—that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons. And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their God is bigger than you, if that happens,”Don't people of other faiths already think that their god is better than the Christian god. I don't know any one that believes that their god is wimp. Also, if the Christian god was going to guard his reputation wouldn't a good place to start that process be to stomp out all the other religions? Third, Hindu isn't a god.
Here is a video of the entire prayer.

Have you heard it all yet?
My husband sent me this video yesterday. I don't know how those listening to this sermon didn't bust out laughing. I hope that you have a great laugh and enjoy.

Back Again!
I have been really busy with work and family, but a church sign that I saw has made me feel compelled to rant.
The sign reads "Trust yourself less and God more".
This sign points to one of the biggest problems that I have with religions. Religions teach people that they need to rely on God for everything. So, instead of relying on themselves or their community to help them through a problem they turn to God. Then when their family or community solve the problem rather than being truly thankful to them they praise god for working through those people to solve the issue. Through this thinking pattern the religious person doesn't actually think that the people that helped them would do it unless god was working through them. This state of mind really upsets me.
Also, along the same line is the thought that god gives us all the talents that we have and that we should be thankful to him. That irritates me too. If a person practices a musical instrument everyday for hours and becomes very skilled that person should credit their own hard work and effort as the reason that they are so good, or credit their teacher or those that encouraged them to continue when they wanted to give up.
People need to believe in themselves and their community to move forward. Believing in things that can't be proven to even exist only delays the process or leaves people feeling unappreciated for their efforts.
