McCain's off script, again

As I read this article over at Fixed Noise I wondered if McCain's speech writers are thinking "Why bother writing a speech for him if he is going to make off the cuff comments like this?"

"We're going to spend a lot of time and after I whip his you-know-what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7,"

With that statement he not only got people laughing at him, but he showed his age as well. Furthermore, his base won't like that kind of talk and those outside of his base are thinking that he could have said "butt" at least.
