Protect the Children!

With all the focus on the election I am not sure how many people are following Proposition 8 out in California. If it is passed it will overturn gay marriage in that state. Of course this has the Christians and other religious people scared and saying crazy things. Here is a video that features Christian parents that were offended that their son was told about homosexuality in the 2nd grade because Massachusetts allows gay marriage. I could barely watch this without wanting to smash something.

Please visit "No On Prop 8" to see how you can support gay marriage and the dream that one day every American will be able to get married if they want to.

Hmmm. . . I think I understand their point though. If gays are crying out for tolerance from heterosexuals, why can't homosexuals tolerate people of differing opinions?
The parents never asked the school to stop teaching acceptance of homosexuality; they simply asked to be notified before such things were presented to their children. Wouldn't you expect the right to be notified before your children were bombarded with Christianity (in a public school, might I add)? I think the parents should at least have the basic right to pull their child out if they disagree - America is all about freedom of religion, and obviously, for most people who disagree, homosexuality is a matter of religion. I would think that especially you, godless woman, would understand the importance of allowing everyone their own beliefs, no matter how ridiculous you may think they are.

Gays aren't asking for your blessing necessarily, they are just asking that you don't take away their civil rights.

If you are talking about a religious studies class where they talk about what different religions believe I would be all for having my kids in that class. I am not going to tell my kids there is anything that they can't learn about.

If you mean that the school is going to be proselytizing that is completely different and unconstitutional.

You are right I do believe that everyone is allowed to in this nation believe in anything they want, but their freedom to exercises their beliefs end where mine begin. Meaning that any religious person can believe and do anything thing that they want until their freedom starts hurting other peoples freedoms. So religious and non-religious people don't have the rights to civil rights from anyone.
