Two More Atheists!

My husband and I adopted two cats from the Humane Society today. They both seem to be enjoying their new home.

This one is Apollo, he is a year old and very playful. He can catch toys between his paws and bat them back.

This is Gemini. She is about 6 years old and very laid back and quiet. Since we've got home she has been hiding under the couch. I am sure once she is comfortable she will come out.

I am so glad that we got a two cats and even though it is a little more difficult to bring both home at the same time I am glad that we did. They had both been at the shelter for a few months so it was about time that they got a nice home.

Thanks, they seem to finally be settling down I have Gemini on my lap and my husband is playing with Apollo.
How great to have the new furry housemates. I bet Apollo and Gemini are loving their new home.
They will have you house trained in no time :)
Very cool. Glad to see you have adopted some rescued animals. Though the Humane Society gets a bad rap sometimes at least it's better than a puppy mill or something of that sort (which I'd wager is where the vast majority of animals at the Humane Society originated from in the first place!)

All of our animals are rescued to a degree. My boy Pete is from the Humane Society (we believe he is Hungarian Pointer mix); he was just a few months old when we got him. Tucker, our pudgy Beagle, was first abandoned by a hunter becuase he is gun shy; therefore "that dog don't hunt". My sister-in-law took him in initially (she has a big heart and has a house full of animals that people have abandoned or couldn't otherwise take care of.) Our two tabbies, Mazzy and Audra (sisters), were tiny little kittens of a litter left in an apartment when the owner passed away.

So, I guess I will say that I'll probably never buy a pet from a store or "pet factory" as there are plenty of animals in need of a good home.

I am glad to see hear that you are taking in abandoned animals as well. It feels so nice to give them a nice new home. They both are loving it here, especially Apollo. He has been running around discovering all the new space that he has. Gemini is a bit more laid back but is enjoying the extra attention.
Saw that you weren't allowed the name Perl, very upsetting! Still, very cute!

It wasn't the end of the world. My husband just thought it was a little too nerdy.
I took in an abandoned or lost chihuahua a couple of years ago. Wonderful dog.

That is great. I think that more people should start their new pet search at an animal shelter. There are some great animals there that just need a new home, especially in these hard economic times.
I agree, although my dog was discovered as a stray.

Apollo is a handsome kitty. So is Gemini, though she looks a tad nervous.

That picture of Gemini was taken within the first few hours of her arriving at her new home. Now she is much more relaxed.
That's good. Did she come out from under the couch?
Yeah, she has had fun exploring the rest of the house, but I think that she just likes to curl up in small spots so under the couch fits the bill. She also loves to curl up in our laps and in boxes.
Ah. So cute. I am a big time cat lover. My husband and I stopped at a gas station on a rural route and the gas station owner had like 10 kittens of various ages he was the caretaker of. They were poking there little heads out of bushes and were all over the place. Oh so cute.
Oh cool! Congrats on your new pals. I found with my recent adoption from the shelter (dog) that it took her a few days to relax but she's doing fine now. I'm sure your cats will get used to their wonderful new home quickly.
Great! Apollo and Gemini is so lucky enough to have you as their family right now . Keep it up.. maybe the two cats would be a fortune to your business . :)
